What is Medical Billing and Coding?

NOW INSTRUCTING ICD-10!
When a patient has any medical exam or procedure, the medical office will work with the patient’s insurance company for claims. The biller will submit and follow up on any claims in order to receive payment for services rendered by the health care provider. This requires the coder to learn many codes which represent symptoms, medications and diagnosis. Obtaining a degree in Medical Billing and Coding allows graduates to work with providers and patients to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement occurs. As mandates and requirements apply to the field of Medical Billing and Coding, you can count on DBU to provide current instruction to meet all requirements including ICD-10 as well as inpatient and outpatient coding. Graduates can apply their knowledge to work in health care offices around the country.
