Credit may be transferred for program requirements which were successfully completed at another accredited postsecondary institution. The student must have passed the class with a grade of “C” or better and must submit to the administration an official transcript from the previous school. The student may be asked to provide course descriptions. Acceptance of transfer credits is at the discretion of this school. Credit will be given only for courses taken prior to enrollment at this school. Developmental classes will not be accepted for transfer. Students may transfer in up to 25% of technical courses. Any technical classes taken more than seven years prior to enrollment at DBU will be evaluated individually. Requests for transfer of General Education classes will also be evaluated on an individual basis by the Director of Education. Any course considered for transfer must carry an appropriate credit load and be substantially similar in content to the DBU course which it replaces.
Advanced standing credit will not carry a grade and will not be used in calculating the student’s grade point average. If credits accepted through transfer total a whole quarter’s work, that quarter will be counted as one quarter of work toward satisfactory progress. This will affect how soon the student’s grade point average must reach a 2.0; it will also count toward how many quarters a student has to complete his or her program. For example, if a student enters a program whose length is four quarters and transfers in one quarter of courses, that student must achieve a grade point average of 2.0 by the end of the second quarter in residence rather than the third quarter. Less than a whole quarter’s worth of work (less than twelve credits) would not affect satisfactory progress.
